Sunday, June 21, 2026 (7 miles)

After breakfast we took a cable car to Lauterbrunnen where we met our bus and beat the crowds to the THUNDERING Trümmelbach Falls, a unique set of ten waterfalls encased behind the valley walls.  The funicular we took to reach the entrance was also within cave walls and is an engineering feat!!  This experience was simply Mind Blowing!!! The power of water was on display as it rushed down the cavern walls and into rushing currents and beyond!  I have had the great fortune of seeing many an amazing waterfall – nothing comes close to this spectacle of multiple cave born falls!

We were free after spending an hour at Trümmelbach Falls and several options were entertained and undertaken.  I went with about a dozen others on a mountain excursion that combined a narrow gauge railway, a gondola lift and a spectacular alpine walk above the tree line, surrounded by a panorama of cut-glass peaks.  We took a train to Wengen, then took the cable car to Männlichen and walked from there to Kleine Scheidegg! 

It was truly a perfect afternoon with a glorious array of colorful wildflowers and the towering peeks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfraujoch accompanying our every step!  Our perspective was the north side and opposite of what we see from the town of Mürren where we are staying.  

Our hike was about ninety minutes of easy walking amongst the stunning mountain landscape.  Then it was a train plus bus plus gondola ride before getting back just in time to refresh before our last dinner together in this truly Magical town!  I would love to come back again one day! 

We enjoyed most excellent, spirited, participatory and live accordion and alphorn music!  The alphorn is a traditional lip-reed wind instrument and consists of a long straight wooden natural horn. Dinner was a traditional Rösti (or Röschti) – pan fried hash browns with a topping – ours was pork and mushrooms. 

Another Very Full day in the books!!
