DAY 11, Day 4 on The Camino Thank You, Jesus!!! I experienced a variety of emotions today reflecting that today in history He journeyed to his death on the cross – for me!! I could not help but think of this all day!
It was another long day – 17 1/2 miles beginning at 6:45 a.m., blister recovery impacting my starts (after stopping) – which we did at Bar Truecha and Albergue Rehoboth. But once I got going, I was able to proceed… The latter was a gorgeous, small albergue run by a big hearted South African couple on a “donations” only basis after a decade of doing missionary work in Africa. And his sweet dog was anxious to play with us!!
We did start the day by having to go out a window in our albergue given we were locked in (my idea and then I was first through)! And our day had us on beautiful forest and meadow trails as well as by a damn and huge lake. We finally arrived at our “medieval pilgrim hostel” at 4:00 where we showered and did laundry before hitting Bar Palicio for beers and tapas as well as to play a rousing game of Avalon!
We then thoroughly enjoyed an Amazing, three course flare dinner prepared before us by a flamboyant chef at Restaurante Asociacion Gastronomica with the byline of “Me Gusta Comer!”
I was really quite thrilled to realize that my pain level subsided to a 2 on a scale of 1-10 over the last 3 miles of our day – yay!!! Buen Camino!!
