Day 1

IMG_5825

And I’m getting closer…!  Though I don’t begin my physical “Camino” for several more days, I truly started this journey some time ago and today I am one step closer preparing to head out to the airport (okay, I’ve been packed for awhile and have been staring at the clock in a bit of a trance for an unsubstantiated time).  I travel to London for a plane change and will first set foot on Spanish soil in Madrid.  To say I’m excited is an understatement!! Emocionado!!!

  1. Walk on my dear friend, and may every step be full of meaning and purpose. As the ancients did long, long, ago may you see, hear, and feel things of wonder. Love, Val

    1. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

    2. Great words, Sister! The past 3 days walking were much tougher than I ever imagined and traveling in a group of 8 is also challenging, but I believe I am moving forward with joy today!!! Thanks for your support!

I will be following along. If you think you will travel along the southern beaches of Spain later, let me know. That is the only area I’ve been.

    1. Thanks for traveling with me!! I hope to hit Barcelona beaches the 2nd week in May!

  3. Looking forward to this. 🤗

    1. Thank you so much for your support – I love you!!! I meant to talk to you before I left, so sorry I didn’t. The first days walking were way harder than I thought but I think I turned a corner yesterday (hopefully)!!

  4. Very excited for you my friend! Praying for safety; may God bring many delights across your path and a deeper relationship with Him! Looking forward to updates.

    1. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Every day is different, that’s for sure!!

  5. Fabuloso! Am I saying that correctly? I am really looking forward to hearing all about your adventures! May God keep you safe, speedy and strong!…
Speaking of speedy, just a moment ago, part of an old “On The Road with Charles Kuralt” episode was playing on TV – just as I was reading your blog for the first time. They were interviewing an elderly California man who would run marathons and speed walk 3 miles each way to work. And how ‘elderly’ was this athlete? *104 years old!* Now there’s a goal to shoot for! God willing, of course!
At any rate, ‘Dios te bendiga, mi hermana!’ [If I wrote that correctly, it’s supposed to be ‘God bless you, my sister!’]

    1. Thanks for your enthusiasm, prayers and support!! I look forward to more transformation as I leave my foot pain behind!!

  6. Looking forward to “reading all about it”! May God truly bless your every step and give you lots of opportunities to share His love with others. Be sure to put on the heavenly armor daily, especially the shoes of the preparation of the gospel of peace.

    1. Thank you so much for these reminders, your support and prayers!! I hope most of the pain is behind me and I look forward to what God may have in store for me! It was emotional walking in Goid Friday imagining the last earthly days of our Lord…

      1. I pray you have a marvelous Resurrection Day, thinking about all Jesus is doing in you on this journey. I’ll also be praying the foot pain (and any other pains) get less and less daily. May God continue to bless you richly each day!
        Love you
        Pam

I am in tears right now thinking how meaningful and transformative this experience will be for you. I anxiously await the blogs:) Good luck my friend!!!

    1. Thank you so much!!! They say the emotional work and transformations come after the physical pain so now that my feet are on the improve, I think I can enjoy the journey again!!

  8. So excited for you and I hope the travels weren’t too exhausting!! Travel on my friend, travel on!!

    1. The travel exhaustion seems far behind me now!!! Early group excitement and fun were great, then pain took over. I think this day forward is looking great though!!

  9. Have a wonderful time so jealous went to Spain years ago and loved it so much can’t wait to hear your adventures😘

    1. Thank you!!! It is quite an adventure!! Where un Spain did you go? The foot pain got in the way of a couple days of joy, but I think the worst is behind me, thankfully!

  10. So excited for you, my dear friend! Yay! <3

  11. SO excited for you and can’t wait to read and see your adventures!!

    1. Thanks!!! It’s pretty damn exciting, that’s for sure!!! The 1st 3 1/2 days walking were grueling, but the last half of yesterday’s walk was a turning point in my pain, so I am Much buoyed for today!!

  12. How blessed you are to be taking this trek. Wishing you safe travels & amazing experiences.

    1. I am TRULY Blessed!!! I thank you for your well wishes, interest & support! I think I have made it through most of the pain now, so I wonder what’s next!!!

  13. Looking forward to another post, Robbi, so I can live vicariously. XOOX

    1. It’s quite the adventure, that’s for sure. I wasn’t sure I’d make it through the first week of walking – it has felt grueling, but I am optimistic after day 4 in the books!!

  14. I’m excited for you and can’t wait to see what you experience and hear about what you learn. God Bless!

    1. Thank you so much!! I appreciate your support & prayers! They say that once you get past the physical pain (after 4 days of walking I’m on a much appreciated pain level 3 on a scale of 1-10) that the emotional and transforming happens…

  15. Sister, Robbi. My Sister. I truly hope that God touches your heart like you have never known. Love and miss you!!

    1. Thank you so much for your love and support! I am told that once I get past the physical pain, it is on to emotional and transforming stuff… my feet after 4 days of walking are now a 3 on the pain level (1-10) so I am very happy about that!!! It is interesting walking during Holy Week and imagining the last days in earth that our Savior spent.

  16. WOW!! Look at all this tremendous support & love! You are absolutely blessed. Sending all the good energies for a safe & increíble* journey! (*pronounced: in-cray-e-blay)

    1. I know, so amazing!!! And thank you so much for your help here and immense encouragement, love and support!!

Hi, Robbi! it is wonderful to see the new entries on the blog! I have imagined each day what this must be like for you. I have seen your smiling face and your herculean legs pumping along the path, eyes ever on the horizon, looking forward down the long, long road, knowing that you can get there. I have thought of the physical challenges as you cover the lay of the land both physically and mentally. I have prayed that each day you will have nourishing food and a bed to rest in. I have prayed that this journey will bring great enlightenment to your life that you will carry forward long after your return. Thought for the Day: To make the impossible, possible; to make the possible easy, and to make the easy effortless. May our heavenly father give your feet wings today, so that they may float easily and without pain along The Way. Love, Val
